Donald Trump Jr. Just Surrendered Hundreds Of Russia Documents To The Senate
The clock is ticking on the Trump presidency. Just over two hundred days into his administration, it already looks like the end is nigh.
Just last week it was revealed special counsel Robert Mueller has empaneled a grand jury to tackle the ever-widening investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. At the same time, the Senate is conducting its own, parallel probe into the scandal. Trump’s increasingly erratic Twitter behavior and the attacks his lackeys have launched on Mueller’s credibility are signs that panic is setting in for the Donald’s camp.
Now, Bloomberg reports that the Trump campaign, including Donald Trump Jr. and former campaign manager Paul Manafort, have handed over thousands of documents to the Senate Judiciary Committee relating to the Russian investigation. They were ordered to do so by the Senate.
The documents, numbering over 20,000, were transferred on August 2nd, but went widely unreported until today. Manafort alone relinquished 400 documents. Trump Jr.’s count was closer to 250.
In particular, the Senate Committee is interested in documents related to team Trump’s efforts to obtain compromising material on Hillary Clinton through Russian surrogates. Donald Trump Jr. previously admitted that he, Jared Kushner, and Manafort met with several Russian proxies for this purpose during the run-up to the election. The full details of that meeting have yet to be revealed to the American public.
It’s unclear what the documents will reveal, but the investigation it is clear that the investigation is quickly derailing Trump’s failed presidency.
